"Tracks are turning south into Atwood, so this is pretty accurate location. "
"Both buildings on North side of Forbes (Diamond) survive, Courthouse visible in distance. "
"Based on the map below and the park structure's location in the back ground, the wading pool was closer to 46th, roughly where the playground equipment is today. The main pool is in the same location.

"Actually, the only place in Heth's Run where the slope goes this abruptly from steep to flat is further south in the existing Public Wroks lot at the base of the slope down from the playing fields at Heth's playground. "
"Ron, you are exactly correct. The confusion arises from the fact that That Bigelow Blvd, which is really a very long continuation of Grant Street from downtown, had not yet been renamed Bigelow Blvd (for the city engineer who oversaw its construction, I think) as it left downtown, so this, in fact, the corner of Grant BLVD and Forbes, in Oakland as you point out. Those are the left field bleachers striaght ahead.
I have tagged a little off of the then-current intersection as I think "Grant and Forbes" was just the nearest intersection for the paper street that would become Schenley Drive, given the location of the bleachers in the photo.
Also you can almost see the grade falling off tot he left where the current location of Schenley Plaza was not yet filled, the bridge shown there on the map below is reported still buried below the street:

"There was a Studebaker showroom under the left field bleachers of Forbes Field at that time. I wonder if the picture isn't properly located this is it?

"Klavon's Ice Cream (now located in the Vilsack Drug Co. building) still has original items on display that were used when this was a pharmacy. "
"Judging by the bricks on the side of the building, I think this was taken in the alley between 20th and 21st. Unfortunately Street View doesn't have an image from this viewpoint"
"Bob- The links get truncated by the comments field. but they still work. "
"This ravine was filled in, and the Duquesne Light Oakland Substation was built on this site in the 1960's. I'll bet the wall is still there, under several feet of dirt."
"I found Cassius Street on Volume 2, Plate 4 of the 1939 G.M. Hopkins & Co. Map. The link is too long but you can search for it at http://digital.library....
It's just a narrow alleyway between Shakespeare St. and Aurelia St. The Shakespeare St. Giant Eagle is right on top of that location now."
"Shouldn't be tagged in Washington PA"
"I can't find any record of a Cassius Street in Pittsburgh. I have looked at historic maps with no luck. Could it be mislabeled? "
"Nice. the reason my first comment was so confusing is that I meant to finish the sentence The Nixon Theater "is visible in the distance" but got sidetracked with my own blah-blahing..."
"Yeah, I also tagged a photo taken FROM the Burger building, after the Potter Tilte Co had traded up to a corner clock!

"Took me a while to realize you were talking about the building in the distance above the cab of the first truck. I just tagged a closeup of the theater here:
