A street scene from South Oakland, looking northwest from 16 Childs Street to Swinburne Street. This view provides a glimpse of construction on the Cathedral of Learning located on the University of Pittsburgh's main campus.
In the 1930 photo my house is on the left with the chimney in the middle. The house was built in 1925(3276-3278 Parkview). I was there from 1966-2005 The house barley in the picture is 3274 Parkview caught fire on Dec 31,2003 and was torn down in the summer of 2005. In the lower photo the trees block the view on the left.
I want to add that Childes street was named for Asa Childs while Swinburne was named for the English poet Algernon Swinburne of the mid 19th Century.
The street is Childs. I hit the button too soon.
