An undated view of Pittsburgh taken between 1930 and 1940 from Duquesne Heights showing the Grant Building. The Grant Building, built in 1930, was named for Major James Grant, leader of the failed British attack on Fort Duquesne in 1758 initiated by General Forbes. Also visible is the Gulf Building, built in 1932 on the site of the first oil refinery in the United States - the birthplace of the petroleum industry in the United States. The Wabash Bridge, seen on the right, was removed in 1948.
