The Pittsburgh Municipal Hospital, a Public Works Administration project, under construction at the intersection of Darragh and Terrace Streets. Jonas Salk conducted his Polio vaccine research and research on other contagious diseases during the 1940s and 1950s at the hospital during his tenure at the University of Pittsburgh. Pitt Stadium towers is above the site.
