View of construction during the hump removal project at the corner of Dante Alley and Sixth Avenue, looking southeast. The Eaton Co. Undertakers storefront and an advertisement for Uneeda Biscuit are visible. The "hump" cut took place in the downtown area known as Grant's Hill. The project began with planning in 1909 and ended with the final cut in 1913. It changed the gradient of Grant Street, Diamond Street, and Oliver, Fifth, Sixth, Webster and Wylie Avenues. I think the description is incorrect, I think we are looking NORTHeast across Sixth toward Dante Alley in between the two buildings. Dante Alley would be roughly the Southeast portion of the Plaza at the U.S. Steel Tower.
