Ms. Ruth Elder, pilot and actress, visiting the Hon. Charles H. Kline, mayor of Pittsburgh. Ms. Elder was rescued at sea in October of 1927, after attempting to become the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. Though she didn't meet her goal due to bad weather and an oil leak, she was honored for flying 2600 miles non-stop along with her co-pilot, George Haldeman.
