Now known as Bigelow Boulevard, it was intended to connect Downtown beginning at Seventh Avenue and, according to J. M. Kelly’s “handbook of greater Pittsburg, 1895,” “follow the high hillside to the East End.”

    The anchors for the 17th Street Incline can still be seen in the stone wall.
