View of the Old City Hall located at Smithfield Street and Virgin Alley. The cornerstone was laid August 8, 1868, and the building was constructed between 1869 and 1872 for the sum of $408,790. It was sold August 8, 1952, for nearly $2,500,000 to a real estate group planning to demolish it for commercial development.

    This is where Saks is located now. It's a shame they tore this building down.
